To God Be the Glory
The Camp Bond Story
In 1981 Tuss and Delpha Bond officially deeded 60
acres of land to the Southeast Oklahoma District Church of the Nazarene
to build a youth camp for the future Spiritual development of young
people. This had been their dream for many years.
A ground breaking ceremony was held in July 1983. At
this time the grounds were dedicated to God for this purpose.
In 1983 construction began with the setting of the
big bridge. This was our first miracle. At the District Assembly in Ada
in September 1983, the people gave over $100,000 in cash and pledges to
begin the construction of Camp Bond. Mr. Paul Adams, engineer and
Mr. Monroe Parker, architect drew the prints and developed the plan for
utilities. This was completed in October 1983.
Work on the grounds and building actually began
May 12, 1984 when 75 volunteers started the work. In July 1984 the new
camp was officially named Camp Bond in honor of Tuss and Delpha.
The first phase of Camp Bond was completed on July 5,
1986 and the first camp was conducted July 7-11, 1986. May 25, 1987 Dr
Wendell O. Paris, who had directed the building of Camp Bond, led
dedication service. Those who have been involved in the construction of
Camp Bond know that all that has happened has been a miracle of God.
There has been a spirit of harmony, Christian love, and sacrifice
on the part of many people at the point of every need in every crises.
God has provided workmen and material. All of the praise is to God
Almighty out Lord and Saviour. Eternity alone will reveal the good that
has been done and is yet to be done at Camp Bond.
